playing from the bed

An avid cricket fanatic, thought cricket was a mind game but then when we play we are trying to to play sleeping.

What a show today. Need another Lagaan ?.

Some order was there in either, batting, bowling or fielding. Seems we have lost all the orders and the orderlies. The mandatory press briefing, after a day's play seems to be a great joke and not a note on mind games.

Game of Cricket is a historical one but now we are so disinterested , may be we would be pioneers in letting it  into the historical books.

Body language is an oft repeated term but there was no body behind the language. India Cap was a matter of pride but when prudence takes a back seat it is no more a cap of honour but humour.

Oh poor Sunny,Gundappa,Nadkarni, Mankad Durrani and an array of those who like Rahul, VVS,Saurav earned it by sweat and toil.

I hang my head in shame fir the present state of affairs.

A Team game

Never ever in my dreams would I question Sachin's , ability, the passion for the Country and his die hard attitude. But at the back of my mind , I have a faint feeling that Sachin Runs Tendulkar ( S R Tendulkar), is turning into a Stats Man. Breaking news : SRT has crossed 34000 runs. If this is is not stat, can't decipher what is stats.

Our greatest misfortune was we were flooded with legends at the same time. Saurav,SRT,Rahul, VVS. Now barring just one exit we have opened our doors ajar. England looks menacing not coz of their team but the lack of it in us.

MSD : Please buck up. You have had a great run but  piling up victories is as just a game like a TTE. Thoroughly mistaken.. Law of averages is catching up as it is due for everyone. You have a couple of great passengers on the bench which we call is bench strength. Mr.Cool, time to act.

You can't call a bunch of disjointed individuals as a team.

Hail BCCI. They are a better team in filling the coffers. Please allow them to play.

Are we on a selection mode or an elimination mode.

Time to introspect.

a moving soul

Yesterday is gone.Tomorrow has not yet come.We have only today .Let us begin.

Mother Teresa

So saintly said . Moved by it. Forever in our hearts.

adult

Brian you are terrible when you quoted " When Childhood dies, its corpses are called adults".

Cheers whereever you are

maturity

Knowledge and timber shouldn't be much used till they are seasoned.

Awesome.. Something more spicy.. the young man knows the rules, but the old man knows the exceptions.

The witty and wise Oliver Wendell Holmes

Wit with grit... cheers

passing the baton

England invented cricket. Then the Don came in true colors as an Aussie and dominated them. Then the Calypsos, Proteas, Indians,Paks all pitched in.

Looking at the margin of the defeat of the Aussies, I am sure even Ireland can come on top of the world.

The only moral is that change is the only constant factor.

Cheers

Thanks Chesterton

A good novel tells us the truth about its hero, but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author.

So nicely worded this would be etched in my mind when I try to become an author and that day is not far off.

Idealistic

I was astounded and quite interested when Sir.Woodrow Wilson once quoted as below :
Sometimes people call me an idealist. Well, that is the way I know am an American. America is the only idealistic nation in the world.

Might be true as per his perception at a given point of time.

My only query is whether it still remains the same now. No addition of idealistic nations. Iraq, Iran, Afghan issues have they not dented the so called halo of being idealistic.

My nation is also one of the greatest idealistic nations existent as does China and the way from every trauma Japan bounces back.

The thought should be an idealistic world and not a nation in isolation. Let us stop patting ourselves on our own back.

This epistle of mine would definitely create a great ruckus from the Big Brother but never ever have I stated America is not an idealistic nation. My bone of contention is it can never be the only one. I do aver and believe the freedom of speech should be valued but not at the cost of others.

facilitating fraud

My Dear Fellow bloggers,

Hurt to the core, I read an article in an Indian Daily that, FRAUDS ARE AN INEVITABLE COST OF DOING BUSINESS : KPMG Survey.  God Gracious, why was KPMG , accusing most of the of the Indian Companies on the rut.

History cannot be erased by an eraser and what was the the standing of all KPMG involvements in Investment banking and its benchmarks on what happened across the Globe. No abuses intended , but they did have a role to play as a Carrom Pawn. Let us not throw stones sitting behind glass corridors. I value and have great regards for their work ethics.

Am only upset by the off and on knee jerk actions. I am not a Warren Buffet who has annoited an Indian as the second in his ever growing empire.

EOD, we would think that there is no smoke without a fire. Please check your own cupboards, before sitting on judgement. If fraud was an inevitable tool of doing business, I trust even God would never pardon us and he may be left with no space in hell to fill in.

Think before you talk or comment coming with such sweeping statements about the largest democracy. True we may have faults , but let them come out with a statement that they found a black dot in a white shirt.  Let KPMG focus on China too and see everything as clean as a glitter and whether the black dots exist or not.

I apologise if the content has hurt the sentiments and I aver that this not an attempt to be abusive, coz I am Just not an Indian but of the world.

Warm regards,

About the verbs

Bertha Van said , that after the verb " to love"  "to help" is the most beautiful verb in the world. What a thought ?. Kudos.

The offering is for those mighty souls "Elton John & Bernie Taupin" for their one and only one its kind  for Princess Diana's Funeral.

Feeel like memories in mankind is fading. To relive the touching song here's it "

And it Seems to me  you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burnt out long before
Your legend ever will.

These words would even move a mountain, forget a heart.

punter or the punted

The titanic Punter seems to be forgotten in a day. This will haunt the mighty Aussies for years to come, may be decades. He was the modern Don of this era. Not a Broadman but bragman. Memories are short.

style

H.E Thomas Jefferson once quoted, " In matters of style, swim with the current but in matters of priniciple , stand like a rock".

Lets's count the nos on either side but style streamrolls over principles.

Agree.

Who on this world can forget the words and wisdom of Pythogaras :

The Oldest, shortest words "yes" and "no"- are those which require the most thought.

If this is not wisdom then how do you coin a word for that.

Judgement

To repeat such a like post, look at this :

Good Judgement comes from experience and experience comes from bad judgement.

Be damned

My fellow mates,

Quoting a statement from a person , per-se is not criminal or violation of the code of blogging. It does not amount to a steal :

I Quote His Highness Eleanor Roosevelt revealing as under :

Do What you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be ctiticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do and damned if you don't.

My blog today might have been a quote of someone of yesteryears.

With apologies,

Catch 22 situation

Dear Bloggers,

Often repeated is the term Catch 22 situation. Being 52 years of age, I do have a fair idea on what this reveals or captivates, let me request my fellow bloggers , who are in the know of the origin of the term. Even Googling or attempting a wiki search has not satisfied me.

Fellow mates as we are, each in a zone of his / her own expertise, would have the unique abiliity to reveal this.

Warm regards,

C S Venkatesh

Farewell to the titan

The end of great era has to an end. Punter Ponting has hung his boots.

Like the endless runs he scored, he did invite equal criticism. But that cannot help the eraser to clean up ,the class of his batting, leadership qualities and the fighting qualities. Never averse to controversies, he was a class by himself. His exit has made the great game poorer.
